Probably every tourist in the world has heard of Phuket island which is the biggest and most popular island in Thailand. But very few people know that there are more than 1200 islands in Thailand and many of them deserve to be visited too. So if you have visited Phuket or you just want to travel to some islands in Thailand that are not on the maps of most of the tourist agencies we suggest you visit these islands:
Located near the city of Krabi in Southwestern Thailand, this island is famous for the wildlife it hides in its waters and on the land too. Mu Ko Lanta national Park is a must see for all visitors of Koh Lanta and offers great adventures for divers and snorkelers. You can easily spot a shark or one of the many species of fish and turtles that live here.
Maybe it is because of its proximity with Phuket (it is only 20 km away from Phuket) but this island does not get the attention from the travelers as it should. The clear water here is amazing and not to mention the two big white sandy beaches.
This island is very small and it is a perfect getaway from all the crowds and noise that is found in the surrounding islands and the coast. There are three beaches on the islands and all of them have crystal clear water that looks like a perfect spot for snorkeling. It is close to Malaysia so you can plan a trip to Malaysia from there too.
This island has something to offer for every type of tourist. On the one side of the island you can shop in crowded markets and feel the nighlife by visiting numerous nightclubs while on the other side of the island you can enjoy the tropical paradise and quiet sunset.
Although the name of this island means – Chicken Island – it has nothing to do with the actual domestic animals. There are rocks that look like chickens there and that’s how it got its name. The beautiful beaches are surrounded with thick jungle which makes this place super exotic.
Remember that you can’t feel Thailand if you don’t travel to at least one island while you are there!
